Book Appeal for Hatch Hall Direct Provision Centre

June 30, 2017

From June 19th - 23rd 2017, UCD ran a book appeal within the College of Science for the residents of Hatch Hall Direct Provision Centre. The aim of this was to alleviate some boredom that residents experience, by encouraging reading and discussions of the books. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our colleagues and friends who donated to this appeal, as we received a large volume of books. A special thank you must go to staff of Cluny Library, the school library of St. Joseph of Cluny, Killiney, as they very generously came to UCD to donate a large number of library books after reading about the book appeal on our Twitter! The staff and residents of Hatch Hall were truly delighted with the donations, and it allowed them to create a library in the centre. Failte Refugees hopes to continue to work with reception centres and direct provision centres throughout the year, to help in any way possible.
